CooperSurgical Lawsuits

There have been significant allegations against CooperSurgical for producing defective embryo culture media, which impaired embryo development and led to the loss of invaluable genetic material.

Following reports of these issues, CooperSurgical issued an urgent recall in December 2023 and now faces multiple lawsuits as affected families seek justice.

CooperCompanies claims to sell products in over 130 countries, and one of those products is embryo culture media, a solution used in the IVF process.  Lieff Cabraser is one of the leading law firms representing families in litigation against CooperSurgical as it relates to the company’s production of defective embryo culture media. These individuals and families allege that CooperSurgical did not conduct thorough and sufficient testing on its embryo culture media, resulting in the damage or destruction of invaluable eggs and embryos.

In December 2023, after affected hopeful parents became aware of the failure, CooperSurgical issued an urgent recall for the three lots of the solution, saying “the risk to health is impaired embryo development prior to the blastocyst stage.”

The first lawsuit against CooperSurgical for this defective embryo culture media was filed at the end of 2023. Since then, many additional cases have been filed in courts across the country as families seek justice for the undue loss of their eggs and embryos.
